what went right & what didnt what il change

If I had to do this again I think I would change the style of clip I used. I would use something much shorter as I feel I may have possibly given myself a very tricky task as the clip was 50 seconds long. I would try and manage my time more efficiently.

I think the animation of the juggling was done very well, and I am also very pleased with the final edit.

I was unhappy with the fact that the schedule was given to us just three weeks before the due date. I feel that writing a schedule after doing over half the project already seemed some what pointless as quite a bit of work had already been done. I feel I would have benefited more if the schedule had been given to us sooner, as it's worth 20% of the final grade.

FInal Cut Pro, Sound & After Effects

After finishing the animation, I put this into After Effects to do masking of the tree the clown goes behind. After this I imported the scene into Final Cut Pro where I added the sound clip of the circus theme over the top, which I then exported into a Quick Time movie.

lighting!!!

I had to work on the lighting to make the clown in the scene look as if the clown was actually in the shot rather than animation added over the top. I have also conducted some research into this on Moodle, which I found has helped.

final touches

I am now adding further animation to the scene. I am animating the juggling and also making the clowns use of the unicycle flow easier.

Monday 1 March 2010

a week before deadline!!

ok i have decided that i will cut my scene short a bit i would prefer to do less animation but to a better standard then do all of the clip and have some half hearted animation in it i hope it will be fine because the scene itself is still 28seconds. i noticed today i had bite off more then i could chew so to speak. il still have the unicycle and juggling in my scene.

flip reverse it!

there is a part of my scene when the clown forward flips of a bus so was looking a some research to help me with this in Maya i come across a website that showed how to step by step it was very helpful to me.

just a few screen shoots to keep the blog up to date on what i'm doing i'm animating hard at the moment, but still got plenty of work to do.

just a little update

i'm animating the scene for this project with a lot of information in it so there's a lot of work to get done in a short period of time. i got to animate the shoot, light the scene, and add to final cut pro for the finishing touches, a lot of work ahead of me.

juggle my balls

Clowning About

building my unicycle

just a basic model for my animation I'm quite proud of it myself. took 2 hours and i did take my time. now to model juggling balls.

unicycle time

In the scene there is a part when my clown is riding a unicycle so i need to model one but before that i need to do some research.

Say hello to my Little Friend!

this is the modal i will be animating with it took me a long time to find this modal i was looking all over the net for free clown rigs but couldn't find any so was going to use a different one but then got reminded that a Maya modal training book had a clown rig on the CD-ROM that comes with it so copy the file over, but then it wouldn't open due to me having Maya 8.5 so had to download Maya 10 the 6 month trial so i could upload the rig.

i got a puzzle to solve!

I solved my clip and very pleased with the results, when solving you don't want anyone the 2.0 pixel slips and I'm proud to say thought the scene the highest pixel slip was 1.75 go me now i can start to animate the clip with my character.

i got the green light!

ok i was having problems when the bus drive past the scene because there wasnt any markers to track, but i solved this problem and now i got the green line so i can solve the matchmove and see if it worked.

maya Live

ok i begain to tracking using Maya Live, Maya live help track your scene so help when im animating,

screenshot Storyboard!

just a quick storyboard using screen shots from the clip i will be using

the Storyboards

this is the ruff storyboard for the scene i want to animate just very basic lines to give you the jest to what I'm hoping to do.

And the winner is!!!!!

Forrest gump
that right i pick the forrest gump clip because i can have a lot of fun with the space within the scene and could produce a really nice animation clip,
next step storyboarding.

the scream scene think its a really good idea but again with the Bruce almighty clip to much marking would need to me done to make it look good and this project ant how good your marking its how will i can animate and use light to make it look like the character is really there so i think this clip is out of the question.

2) Forrest Gump

i like this scene beacuse the camara dosnt move that much and there is plenty of room on the green behind forrest to play with. we will see.

1)Bruce Almighty

This is one clip i was maybe going to use the only problem i was seeing was the lake of space to move in the background for my character to move and there would need to be a lot of marking in after effects.

Storyboarding

this storyboard was a really ruff idea after i saw a clip from scream i really liked its near the end all the teenagers are siting on the sofa watching Halloween and there was two door ways so i thought would be good if i animated to killing trying to pick the right weapon to kill them with and at the end of the scene one of the teenagers gets up and was thinking be nice touch if the killer gos scared he would be seen and ran thought the other doorway.
this was my first idea of the live news report i liked the idea of a clown so the storyboard reflects that. he does a bit of juggling, on a unicycle and just move on from there.

i just need to narrow down the chooses now.

the list

the films i was going to search thought are as followed
  • cloverfield
  • Anchorman
  • Forrest Gump
  • Donnie Darko
  • Armageddon
  • Ghostbusters
  • Scream
  • Little Nicky
  • Bruce Almighty
  • Mars Attack
  • the Day After Tomorrow
this is the starting point i will narrow this films down to a few them with help from my group feedback will decide which one to use for this project.

News Flash

My first idea was to animate a character in a clip from a film which is like a news report because it is funny when you want the new and you see the crazy people in to background so i decided to start searching through films with news report in them.
